acrylic & oil on canvas
37x47cm framed

An abstract imagined landscape. The three elements here are a tree, a waterwall and the hills behind. There is a tree that lines some of the streets near our new home which was the initial inspiration for this work. Clearly the tree shown isn’t an exact representation, it’s very abstracted from its true self as I’ve emptied out the details but what stood out for me when I first came across it was the intense white and yellow flowers. I’ve painted the flowers quickly with dabs of loaded paint to create texture and set it apart from the rest of the painting which is quite smooth. I deliberately aimed for space in this work after a run of layered and busy paintings, so a simple painting in comparison was a challenge.
