Congratulations To Boom Artist Hop Dac!
We are so excited to announce that Boom Artist Hop Dac has been successful in the Copyright Agency's latest Cultural Fund Grant. Hop will receive a substantial sum in order to support the research and development of his next project, Firefly.
For Firefly, Hop hopes to travel to Vietnam and will create a body of work responding to poems his grandad wrote, once he seeks help to translate these from Vietnamese to English. This will culminate in a solo exhibition at Boom in late 2025.
As both a writer and artist, Hop’s ability to represent meaningful yet complex narratives (such as notions of identity, religion, diaspora and
familial intricacies) in his artwork with subtlety and care, is testament to the substance of his creative practice.
This grant will hugely benefit Hop in order to spend the time needed to fully realise the breadth of this project, and create a new body of work reflecting its importance. We are so proud of him and delighted to support his practice in this way.
