ARTIST STATEMENT
"The internal and external experience within nature and the environment it observes has anchored my practice and creative inquiry for over a decade.
This new series Towards The Blue delves into the interplay between the blue spectrum of natural and artificial light, capturing the essence of the sky in various shades. By imprinting pressed pastel and painting these images onto surfaces by hand, they preserve the fleeting moments of clouds bathed in different hues of light. The varied processes highlights the contrast between the genuine blue light of nature and the artificial blue light we encounter daily on screens, inviting reflection on our perception of reality and memory of the image over time.
Here the clouds and sky symbolise the fleeting nature of time, elusive and impossible to capture easily, existing only in the present moment. In my attempt to embody this presence, I press marks onto the surface, using it as a meditative tool to experience each moment as I move across the page.
My fascination with clouds lies in their ethereal structure and ephemeral nature, influenced by the interplay of air, water, light and the infinite shades of blue.
They leave a personal imprint on me daily, capturing moments of stillness and presence within nature."
