Ash Leslie, 'Light Source'
ARTIST STATEMENT
“Recently, my paintings have begun to reflect themes of childhood and imaginative play - a response to my mixed feelings as I witness my daughters grow at what feels like an alarmingly fast rate. Through these works I seek to preserve the fleeting moments where leaving notes in fairy gardens and creating secret worlds within blanket clad cubby houses defines this most precious stage of both their and my life.
Through the medium of paint I have tried to evoke an almost ethereal quality that feels reminiscent of that magical energy of childhood. It is an energy that I have been lucky enough to carry with me into adulthood and which has acted as a vital light source for resilience in my life.”
