ARTIST STATEMENT

"In this series, I have continued to reference and pay homage to the coastal landscapes that provide a sense of renewal and energy. I’ve sought to depict this landscape as a life force, a place that sparks feelings of hope and possibility.  The title of the exhibition, At The Edge is both a reference to the literal meeting of land and sea, but also the idea of a threshold, the excitement of making room to step from one space into another, be it a new idea, a phase in life or a moment of clarity.

Edges are an important part of the visual language in this body of work. At times clear and defined, at other times overlapping, moving in and out of the picture plane. Pathways and horizon lines are intentionally ambiguous and immersive, small journeys that lead to multiple destinations. Repetition and mark making are also essential aspects of my practice, a methodology that takes on a meditative quality in amongst the energy of the landscape. These are achieved through a variety of techniques and media including monoprinting, drawing, painting and etching into the surface."
