'Shutter' is a rumination on the framing of thresholds in the home and the threshold as a metaphor. Thresholds like windows, doorways, cupboards, and even images enable a person to see out, be seen, hide, reveal, travel through, or be visited.

Even though we are mostly in control of what we reveal, conceal, shut out or let in, these boundaries are never perfect and always leak just a little at the seams. Light beneath a door, unexpected rain through an open window, mess tumbling from an overfull cupboard, or a framed photo like a postcard from the past.
