Steve Singline is a local painter who has journeyed with the gallery since the very first years of being established. He is a quiet, thoughtful and sensitive person and this translates fully into how he understands, responds and depicts the world around him. Beyond the Secret Garden is a small solo exhibition of recent works that once again create a sense of calm and serenity. Each painting is a singular work that is a small part of a larger 'painting' still being formed. 


ARTIST STATEMENT
 

"This current series continues my exploration of atmospheric landscape painting. The works are full of imagining. Imagining what lays ahead of us as we venture out into the ‘beyond’. There are works within the series where there is a sense of arrival in a pause place, a place to be still for a moment. There are other works where the sense of journey stretches out and calls us to continue on."

BIO

Steve Singline is a practicing artist living and working in Geelong, Victoria. He has a Bachelor in Visual Arts (2010) and has regularly exhibited in Victoria and New South Wales. Steve’s work primarily focuses on the landscape, exploring memory and a contemplative connection to place. Steve’s paintings often have a sense of drawing audiences into the work, creating s sense of both journey and stillness through the atmospheric qualities that the paintings are layered with.
