Steve Singline, 'Here We Are'
We are delighted to welcome back local painter and Boom studio artist Steve Singline to the gallery for his solo exhibition Here We Are - a tranquil exploration of the landscape.
The low horizon lines in Steve's work allow for vast skies, suggesting hope, optimism and warmer days while pairs of trees act as symbols of togetherness.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"This latest body of work explores themes of connection and belonging.
The title - Here We Are, speaks of arrival and optimism, rest and renewal. In many ways it is about seeing ourselves in the landscape with another. Possibly a friend, a travelling companion or intimate partner. Compositionally, this might be represented by the connection of two trees or shrubs growing together side by side.
Creating the works with this metaphor in mind has given me new inspiration for resolving works that I hope provide my audience with a personal, shared sense of connection with each of the paintings. I am still exploring a sense of quiet stillness and moments of reflection in a landscape remembered."
