Elizabeth Barnett’s creative practice encompasses painting, printmaking and illustration. Elizabeth’s work documents her surroundings, often depicting intimate domestic spaces filled with exotic and interesting plants, colour, treasured objects and furniture, seasonal still life compositions and landscapes. “With these latest works I sought to encapsulate what summer means to me, with a palette of bright hues; flowers harvested from our summer garden, arranged in handmade pottery vessels atop the colourful shapes and forms of stacked books and textile patterns, pared-back still-lifes, interior sanctuaries from the heat of the season.” Elizabeth also founded Schoolhouse Studios Inc in 2010 with Alice Glenn. It is a not-for-profit artist studios complex located in Abbotsford. Elizabeth lives in the Macedon Ranges, where she works from her home studio. Summer Projects VI continues until February 24.
