Aireys Inlet artist Jiri Tibor Novak is well known for his quirky and engaging artworks which often pose more questions than they answer. Although he has embraced the Australian way of life, his Czech heritage and European influence are apparent in his work. Jiri Tibor Novak is a printmaker, painter, teacher and occasionally a writer, whose practice is characterised by whimsical and poetic juxtapositions that result in childlike and enchanting imagery. His works are informed by a myriad of literary sources that result in exchanges between image and text. “Lately I have been traveling and these pictures are the result of my last couple of years.” Tibor brings an incredible new body of work to Boom for his solo exhibition As I Can including paintings, sculpture, watercolours and printmaking with a cohesive colour printed catalogue to compliment the show.
