Jiri Tibor Novak / Portraits

Jiri Tibor Novak’s latest body of work for Portraits delivers an amalgam of reference points that range from biblical narratives to the artist’s experience of immigration and diaspora. Concurrently, Novak’s enduring fascination with the revolutionary movement off the Russian avant-garde is evident.

Jiri Tibor Novak is a printmaker, painter, teacher and occasionally a writer, whose practice is characterised by whimsical and poetic juxtapositions that result in childlike and enchanting imagery. Works are informed by a myriad of literary sources that result in exchanges between image and text.

Portraits runs July 20 – August 12. To see a full exhibition listing click here.
