“This series of seascapes is a further exploration on the horizon. The horizon is a recurring theme in my work. For me, the horizon is a symbol of the eternal and a point of connection with the temporal. The horizon is the place that is always beyond us, a place never reached. It is also the focal point for me in the natural environment where I find the place of stillness and rest.” “The title of the exhibition In These States of Being is a reflection on how we approach stillness in the landscape and what the natural environment can offer us in moments of silence.” As a practising local artist Steve Singline works in the mediums of sculpture and painting. Steve facilitates stone carving and painting workshops for people of all ages and abilities. In addition to his studio practice, he is employed by the City of Greater Geelong as the Public Art Officer. In These States of Being runs until 4pm Feb 25.
