The Seven Seas is a Melbourne based multidisciplinary artist working in illustration and sculpture. He has recently made the shift from figurative to abstract work, focusing on bold colours and large forms created out of timber using power tools and computerised routers. With Take It Easy The Seven Seas continues to blur the lines of 2D and 3D artwork. Gaining inspiration from a recent trip to Japan, particularly Japanese mascots and colour schemes around Tokyo, these most recent works explore the relationship between colour and shape. The work is constructed using a combination of hand routing and computer numerically-controlled routing then painted by hand. Take It Easy runs November 9 – December 3.
