ARTIST STATEMENT
"The works for 'Big Small' mark both a departure and an arrival. With the end of a seven-year painting project, these are the first works in a new project with a renewed focus on geometry and architecture. Compositions that celebrate lines, gestures, colours, shapes, and patterns.
BIO
Michael's practice is a slow mapping of formal art elements and abstracted architecture. Working from a foundation in drawing, Michael collages a range of materials and techniques together to recursively translate source material. These new rolling versions combine elements of sculpture, drawings, paintings, and prints, but solidified into simple compositions.
