ARTIST STATEMENT
"My work is rooted in the ongoing exploration of colour, how different combinations can create energy, tension, harmony or surprise. Each painting is a search for that moment when colour relationships click into place. Pattern and form are part of the process, but they often play a supporting role; it’s the colour that leads. Chroma II is a celebration of colour in all its complexity and being in the same space as Sarah and Kels is quite exciting as we share the same bug. The pieces for this exhibition reflect my ongoing fascination with how colour can shift meaning, mood and movement within a composition. Sometimes the combinations are bold, sometimes quiet, but always driven by an instinct to push colour into new territory. The bug remains tenacious and stubborn but I’m happy to host it nonetheless! Thanks for having me Boom."

BIO

Immersed in design across disciplines including art, interiors, landscape, and architecture, Emma Lipscombe’s artwork bridges the structured and the painterly, blending geometric precision with expressive colour. Her practice is rooted in the transformative process of simplifying, sampling, and reworking forms, exploring how shape and hue interact in dynamic, evolving compositions. Drawing on her experience as a Landscape Architect on projects spanning London, Asia, and Beirut, she brings a designer’s sensitivity to order and scale, balanced by an artist’s deep understanding of colour and luminosity. Her paintings reflect a constant dialogue between structure and spontaneity, where design principles and artistic intuition converge.
