Low Tide on a Saturday

By Tiel Seivl-Keevers

Tiel Seivl-Keevers is a painter with a background in design and illustration. Her work evolves from her interests in the environment and the cycles of life. Through her observations she develops many layers on the surface to capture the impermanence of her explorations.

In recent months, Tiel has been exploring concepts of memory and impermanence in relation to specific topographical journeys. The works for this show are specific to an area in Northern NSW and South East Queensland. She is based in Brisbane and frequently visits Pottsville where the shoreline directly influences her work.

Tiel manipulates surfaces by adding and removing marks to reflect seasonal and cyclical changes. She focusses on the landscapes' details, focussing on intricacies that can only be seen by emerging herself into an area and then trying to capture the essence and mood of being within a place whilst appreciating the constant impermanence of life.
