ARTIST STATEMENT
"This work continues to draw inspiration from my life and upbringing as part of the Vietnamese diaspora in Australia, exploring themes significant to culture, language and identity to see how they are handled, transformed or exchanged. I carry on working from the position of the one-and-a-half generation – I don’t really have a choice in this – and the floor-sleeping pictures in particular look at the themes of adjusting to shifting cultures and the changing of gender roles."
