ARTIST STATEMENT

"Whether we like it or not our world is dominated by structure and geometric forms.

The urban landscape is divided into a grid by roads. Into this grid we build geometric cubes called homes and each home is further divided into smaller cubes called rooms. The whole is then topped by triangles that we call a roof. When viewed from above we see this repetitive geometric framework as a continual pattern as it spreads across the landscape.

When looking at social media we scroll either up, down or across in a grid continually searching for…? My paintings explore the organised geometric world we live in. This is done using the visual tools of repetition, lines, optical illusions and colour vibrations that shimmer and tweak the eye. They test our awareness and force us to consider ‘Are they the new reality of the world we live in or merely a figment of our imagination."
