The Amazonica Victoria waterlily flower has a short but productive journey above water. Over a period of 1-3 days whilst pollination occurs, the flower first appears a stunning bright white then changes to shades of pink/purple before closing and disappearing into the dark depths below. In November last year I was lucky enough to see the pink version of the lily hours before closing. Here I have painted multiple versions with a light / gestural touch to portray a fleeting and beautiful story. Adelaide Botanical gardens provides an inspiring home for the Lily.
