Benjamin Champion is a Melbourne-based painter working predominantly with acrylic paint on canvas. Having first studied painting at Greensborough Tafe under Terri Brooks between 1994-1995, he was introduced to abstract art and its principles, with enduring influences such as the Abstract Expressionist movement prevailing. Following this he completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT between 1998-2000.

Benjamin has also lived and worked for a period in Japan and travelled throughout Asia, which was a rich period of inspiration, where new influences included suibokuga ink painting and traditional Japanese architecture.Since 2016, the subject of his work has primarily been landscapes. However, in recent work, there has been an increasing focus on the inner world of imagination, memory and dream.
