Yoko Georgiou

ARTIST STATEMENT

"I mainly look to the natural world for visual inspiration - harmony and balance in both volume and colour also play a large role in my works. I find rug tufting to be similar to painting, the biggest difference is that with tufting you work in reverse as tufting is done from the back of the canvas.

Sustainability is important to me as is real feel, so I always work with natural fibres that are produced through transparent manufacturing. Sourcing these yarns is a large part of my working process as they bring so much to the final artworks, unlike paint where you can mix your own colours, with yarn that’s not possible.
