"These works explore the shifting patterns and moods of the landscape through layered batik wax and paint. The process of marking, masking, and uncovering shapes the images as much as the forms within them. Each piece holds a balance of structure and play, letting the darker tones or lighter underlayers guide the landscape that emerges."
BIO
Andrea Shaw is a paint and textile artist based in Torquay on Victoria’s Surf Coast. Her work brings together aspects of the landscape with intuitive mark making and collage, creating abstract, playful snapshots drawn from quick sketches made on walks and from memory. Her practice is shaped by an ongoing curiosity about the shifts, patterns and changing forms within the environment.
Andrea exhibits in solo and group shows across Australia and internationally. Alongside her studio practice, she works as an art facilitator within community, mental health and disability settings, supporting others to explore creativity as a tool for expression and well-being.
