ARTIST STATEMENT
"These paintings, like most of my work, are inspired by the natural landscape around me. I have painted them with bright colours and an abstract approach that keeps them playful, which is how I feel when I am in nature. I love abstraction because it allows the works to be fluid and for something new to be seen each time they are viewed, revealing more of themselves over time."

BIO
Ileigh Hellier was born in Batahbah (Belmont) (1995). She has a Diploma of Visual Arts from Newcastle Art School (2015) and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Newcastle (2017). Ileigh has been a finalist in the John Glover Prize, Jacaranda Drawing Prize, Waverley Art Prize and the Deakin University Small Sculpture prize. She has had 5 solo exhibitions and been part of numerous group shows, including exhibitions with Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Despard Gallery, Curatorial and Co, Backwoods Gallery and Boom Gallery. She recently collaborated with the clothing company, Nancy Bird, on a Summer Capsule Collection. Her work is held in
both public and private collections.
