ARTIST STATEMENT

"‘Nature Shroud’ is the first work in a new painting series I am currently exploring. This series reflects on some of the sensory and neurodivergent experiences within my family and the benefits that nature can bring to one’s sense of wellbeing. Being immersed in the visual patterns, textures, sounds, scents and curiosities of the bush is particularly important in providing sensory comfort, wonderment and offering a feeling of protection; like being wrapped in a shroud.

By combining abstract, botanical-inspired motifs and textile-like patterns, this multi-layered painting is attempting to reflect on such experiences."

She is currently undertaking further studies to teach at TAFE level alongside her art practice. Liz has had two solo exhibitions with Boom Gallery since 2021.
