Stacey McCall
Artist Statement
My painting acknowledges the vernacular, the ordinary details of home that holds family, the things we use and touch, over and over. I love handmade things, irregular stitches, textural pottery, brush marks, a sign of the maker’s hand. Like the things I paint, my work is also a handmade object, abstracted by loose and gestural marks.
I approach my subject with vigour, hoping intuition plays its part, feeling an affection towards the process of making and the domestic space in which I create.
